There are several phases which are part of the permit appeals process. Public comments are invited on issues raised in a petition for a permit appeal. There are 5 key phases which are described here: Phase 1: Petition for review filed. Phase 2: Petition for review granted or denied Phase 3: Public notice of briefing period - petition for review. This facility's permit appeal is in the Second Phase of the process. DTSC issued a letter to the facility staying the permit on November 8, 2007. On May 7, 2008, DTSC issued a revised briefing notice extending the briefing period to June 23, 2008.
