Dr. Jeff Wong, Deputy Director, Science, Pollution Prevention and Technology Development
Dr. Wong has served on several National Academy of Sciences committees studying issues related to hazardous waste, other peer review teams examining U.S. Department of Energy's cleanup of the nuclear weapons complex, and US Environmental Protection Agency's programs on risk assessment. He was appointed by President Clinton as a member of the United States Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board. Recently, Dr. Wong provided scientific support to California Environmental Protection Agency Secretary Winston Hickox for Governor Davis' Task Force on Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal, led by Dr. Richard Atkinson, President of the University of California. Jeffrey Wong, Ph.D. is the Deputy Director for Science, Pollution Prevention and Technology Development for DTSC. He is responsible for several essential programs within DTSC which have an impact throughout the nation. Dr. Wong's staff includes more than 150 scientists whose determinations affect how Californians handle individual substances, and sometimes impact entire industries. Before his appointment, Wong served as Chief of DTSC's Human and Ecological Risk Division since the early 1990s.
