DTSC - California Department of Pesticide Regulation
DTSC and the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), our sister agency in Cal/EPA, began collaborating on nanoscale silver (nanosilver) in 2009 and effective June 1, 2010 entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together on this nanomaterial. U.S. EPA is also part of this collaborative team. Of the 1000+ products included in the Woodrow Wilson Center’s inventory of consumer products, approximately one quarter contain nanosilver. Nanosilver is used in products and applications ranging from agricultural pesticides to anti-microbial food containers, appliances and clothing.
DPR and DTSC anticipate an increase in applications to register pesticides and anti-bacterials containing nanosilver in California. Through this collaborative partnership, the agencies will share registration, research and other information about nanosilver.
