Proposition 65 prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging or threatening to discharge chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity into sources of drinking water.
Proposition 65 also requires businesses to notify Californians about exposures to significant amounts of chemicals on the Proposition 65 list that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The chemicals could be in the products that Californians purchase for use in their homes or workplaces, or they could be released into the environment by the business’ operations.
