DTSC staff will provide an update on work to evaluate thirteen publicly-example alternatives assessments. Staff will present an overview of the challenges common to all of the evaluated alternatives assessments. The Panel will discuss DTSC’s synopsis of its observations.

6. DTSC’s Carpets with PFAS Priority Product Proposal

DTSC staff will provide a brief overview of the rationale behind proposing carpets with Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) as a Priority Product and the use of a class approach to identify the Chemicals of Concern. The Panel will weigh in on DTSC’s proposal to list carpets with PFAS as a Priority Product.

SCP staff and representatives from academia and industry will discuss decision-making in the Alternatives Analysis process, including the challenges that companies may face and how SCP can assist stakeholders in the decision-making process.

3. Presentation on Green Chemistry Laws Policy Evaluation & discussion

The California Breast Cancer Research Program has conducted a stakeholder-based policy evaluation of California’s 2008 Green Chemistry Laws and the implementation of the Safer Consumer Products Regulations. Principal Investigator Dr. Gina Solomon of the Public Health Institute will provide an overview of the study. The Panel will discuss the policy evaluation, including how DTSC might address any findings deemed most relevant to DTSC to strengthen implementation of the SCP regulations.

4. DTSC's Preliminary Alternatives Analysis Template

DTSC will provide an overview of the Preliminary Alternatives Analysis template developed to assist stakeholders through the Alternatives Analysis process. Members of the panel will provide feedback on the template and discuss how it can be improved to better assist stakeholders.
